"Hey Deagol! Yeah, we just got back............It was really fun! Champs Les Sims is just beautiful, great fishing, good food..............................Souvenirs? Um, yeah, we brought home kind of a big one."
So last chapter saw the birth of Mungo and Bebe's fifth child, Eldarion. Mun achieved his LTW, and he and Bebe took a trip to Champs Les Sims. It was there that Mungo met young Eveline, the same little girl that befriended Beren during his trip. Eveline had not aged at all. Time must stand still in WA. I felt bad for Beren's little friend, unable to grow up or have any kind of life, so I aged her up to a teenager, and Mungo and Bebe brought her back to Sunset Valley where she can go to school, meet lots of new people, and have a chance at an actual life. Or as close as Sims can get. Because the house just wasn't full enough.
Here's the new girl. Lucky, indeed.
The sparkly, pink butterfly also made it home, all the way from France. He's named Fluffy VonCottonCandy, and lives on the floor of someone's bedroom. I want to say the twins' room.
Eveline fit right in and gets on well with the other kids.
Bree: "Did you really not have to go to school in France? Why in the world would you come here?"
"Yes, it's true. I realize that to you, it must sound wonderful. But I can assure you that it is not. In France, once I grow up my only choices are to get married and have children, or work as a cashier a the market or the nectary. At least here, I can be a scientist, chef, writer, police officer, even a ghostbuster. I can be whatever I wish! I never dreamed such a thing were possible! It is worth having to go to school."
"You're starting in ninth grade. Do you think you'll be able to keep up?"
"Oh oui! I may have to play some catch up, but we do have books in Champs Les Sims, and I used to read all the time. I even got a job here at the bookstore in Sunset Valley so I can read more books. I think I am ready."
"Great! And there's four of us to help you if you need it."
"Thank you, Bree!"
"Remember, Eveline, we take turns going into the school. Only one sim at a time, so sometimes it's a wait. It's important to not lose focus and go play on the playground. You have to be patient and go through the school door when it's your turn."
"Thank you, Eldarion! I will remember that!"
"Did Mom and Dad tell you about the ghosts?"
"The what?"
"Ghosts. Didn't you see all the graves out by the gnubb? Those are our ancestors. They like to come out at night and play gnubb, video games, jump on the trampoline. They also keep us from getting ready for school in the morning. Hard to go shower when you run into four ghosts along the way."
"Oh, well, hopefully they will not get in the way too much."
"Zhang, are you sure this is the right place?"
"Yes, Lin, I'm positive. 15 Summer Hill Court, this is definitely it."
"It looks like a junkyard!"
"Look, we've been invited to our oldest grandchild's graduation. It's a celebration, try not to be negative, okay?"
"*sigh*"
"Hello, Mungo."
"Hi, Lin. Glad you and Zhang could make it to Gilly's graduation."
"Nice place you all have here. The decor is ......... eclectic."
"Yeah, this plot of land has been in my family for 7 generations, now. My great-grandfather even built around the original house instead of tearing it down. I've been wanting to redecorate for awhile but it doesn't seem possible."
"Well, Zhang and I have lived in the same house my entire life, with the same decor and furnishings, and we manage to keep it from looking like an episode of 'Hoarder-Sims'."
"So sad we're moving after Gilly's graduation and won't see you anymore, Lin."
"What?"
"Nothing. Cake time!!"
So yeah, this game file is done. The lag is unbelievable, and all the usual tricks (reset everything, clearing all possible caches, even moving the family out and back in as a last resort (as it deletes all current wishes) didn't help. I hate to do it but we've got to move. I can't believe we made it to generation 8 on a single game file.
I'm going to age Gilly up, then move with her still living in the house so they don't lose their relationships with her.
We have the entire family gathered for what ends up being the last time. Why? You'll see.
Gilly got to roll her trait and is now a music and tv-lovin' klutz, who gets very emotional, and will keep forgetting every little thing. She never rolled an original LTW, so I chose "Hit Movie Composer" for her.
And with that, the family is saved, with house, to the bin and moved to.................................
One of my favorite 'hoods, Twinbrook!!
Now, before we get started, the move did not help the lag at all. It was as if I hadn't even started a new file. So thinking, sadly, that it must be the lot itself, I packed up all the paintings and photos I could, along with a few mementos. I didn't pack up everything as I have no idea if objects are contributing to the lag, and if so which ones. So most of the collectibles, awards, knickknacks, inventions, and pretty much anything else that wasn't a photo/painting/grave, got left behind, including all the gnomes.
And not all of the photos/paintings made it. In fact, most of the older ones were lost.
I deleted the old house and put down one of my pre-mades.
For those who don't recognize it, I took the "All The Rave" warehouse from Riverview, made it a residential lot, and turned into a one family home. I kept most of the brick/lighting/decor for that old factory-warehouse living feel.
The front doors are the ones they are standing in front of in the pic over this one. To the right of the front doors is the kitchen area.
Dining area
Looking straight in from the front doors.
Moving further left, the warehouse as is had no bathrooms, nor any practical rooms for them, so I created a bathroom area on the first floor.
And to the left of the front doors, some crates that I decided to leave for the time being.
A better look at the bathrooms. There are stall toilets and sinks behind a half wall, with two shower rooms on either end.
Looking back toward the front door from the dining room.
I put in a center column for a tv.
Piano (which Bebe is going to love) and arcade game (that everyone else is going to love).
The upstairs consists of two long hallways, and three bedrooms.
The largest bedroom, where Arathorn, Eldarion, and Eveline sleep.
Bree and Earwen share one of the smaller bedrooms. Bree is a loner and will appreciate having her own room once Earwen moves out.
The other small bedroom is for Mungo and Bebe.
"ACHOO!! Aw man, I think I'm allergic to this place."
Chill out, Bree, you are not.
Remember when I said that Gilly's party is the last time the whole family is together? Well, I tried to be meticulous about the move out of SV. I checked every home for close family members (so I thought) and brought all of Mun's brothers and sisters with us. Well, almost.
"I cannot believe you forgot about me and Pearl!!"
Yup. Paladin didn't make the move. Not only that, but while I snagged all the family ghosts that I'd placed outside in the SV graveyard, I forgot to get anyone newly dead out of the mausoleum. So we are missing Iddie's ghost and her place in the family tree. And I didn't realize any of this until the old game file had been deleted. Oops.
And after all this, none of it helped with the lag. Turns out that this laptop is on the slow decline and just can't handle the game like it used to. *sigh* So annoying. I even tried a test game with the mods folder removed and it ran just as slow. Ugh.
"What the hell is this place? It's damp, it smells like methane and rotting fish, and have you seen the people that live here?"
Lucky for all of us, I didn't forget old lady Bella. And I don't know what she's talking about regarding the people. I annihilated the town before moving them in, so the only families here were moved in via rapid immigration.
"They all look like they are related us!"
Yeah, I have immigration set to make sims from my bin. What can I say, I like rainbow colored, pointy eared sims.
"Sweet! Free wifi! So ............ do these science center computers have pornblockers?"
And my simself, let's not forget her. Trolls gonna troll.
Eveline and her wishes made sure that we did not live in a graffiti-less town and house for more than a few hours.
I thought French sims were supposed to be sophisticated and classy.
"We are! We are also artists who do not confine themselves to traditional medium."
"See? Now the house doesn't look so plain and proletariat."
The other family members are adjusting to the move.
The living sims will not stay out of the dumpster. It's your trash, Earwen! I don't know why you need to dive your own garbage.
"Hey, Mom throws out all kinds of good stuff! Take this cheap lamp here. OOOOOOO, a ladybug!!!"
The non-living sims love the foosball, the hot tub, the gnubb, and, of course, the arcade game.
"COME ON YOU LITTLE PINK FUCKER!!!"
I'm hoping that all the fun stuff on the ground floor will keep them from wandering upstairs to the bedrooms and waking everyone up.
Finny: "Eww! Why is she reading when there is so much cool stuff downstairs!"
Eveline: "Ugh, this must be what Gilly warned me about! How will I ever sleep?"
Freakin' useless, ass-monkeys. Dammit, Melian, there are only 15+ places to sit downstairs, so sorry you were forced to use the ONE chair in the whole of the upstairs. And Finny? I don't even know what you're doing! Go play gnubb or something!!
"I wanted to meet the new girl."
Once everyone is settled, Gilly is cut loose and sent to live in a little house of her own.
She promptly lands herself a girlfriend. Debbie is not related at all, but because the immigrants are bin-made they have the last names as well. I did, eventually, rename everyone who got "Valinor" from the bin, changing them in mastercontroller as they popped up in the notifications or I saw them out and about.
Next day is a big one for Bebe.
She finally gets her LTW! So happy to have this one done.
And she becomes an elder.
Who's a little senile.
"For crying out loud, MOM!! I was sleeping!!!"
Chill out, Eldarion, you'd have to get up in another 30 minutes or so anyway.
Arathorn is not good at taking care of himself.
"At least I won't get a head injury at work!"
How are you going to get a head injury at the grocery store?
"Food hates me, remember? It could whack me as it tries to escape!"
Mungo! What are you doing?
"Fishing! I want to catch a 100kg fish and you said that there were really heavy fish in this spot."
This is not where I told you fish! I told you to go over by the science building so you can catch a robot fish.
"Yes it is! I went exactly where you told me!"
No, it's not! See? The science building is way over there, with the tall smokestack. You're on the other side of the lake, over by the movie theater.
"Well ............ I don't know what to tell you."
I told him, again, to fish by the science building, but he went right back to where he was. I guess the routing is such that they can't fish there? And he did catch a robot fish, it took so freakin' long that I wasn't paying attention and just missed getting a picture. Geez, Twinbrook really is a hiccup in the space-time continuum.
Eldarion got invited to Auntie Liz and Uncle Bungo's house after school one day, so I snagged photos of all the cousins.
From the top we have Arwen, Legolas, and Elrond. Galadriel was not home, I think she has a PT job.
"OW! ELADARION!! Watch your plumbob! It's stabbing me right in the head!"
Bree went to the park after school where she ran into Uncle Deagol and Aunt Quayle, along with cousins Billy and Sophia. Billy got his mother's hair, not sure where Sophia's haircolor came from.
Bree wished to hang out with her Uncle, so the two of them went to the diner for dinner.
"So I hear you're being considered for heir. Are you excited?"
"Eh, I don't know. I'm only being considered because the Simgod wants a girl, Arathorn is crazy and loves horses, and Eldarion is awfully young. I have no idea what I want to do with my life right now. It seems like a lot of pressure."
"It must seem like a lot, but I think you'll be just fine. Sometimes you don't know what you want until you've tried a few things. You'll be great, Bree! And you'll have your Dad to show you the way."
"Well, I hope you're right."
Eveline also had a wish to fulfill after school. She wished to visit the...
............ graveyard.
"What? It's nice and quiet here. I can get all my homework done. I really have to concentrate. The house is much too chaotic."
Bebe had all these HPs to spend, so I let her get a degree.
And that's what she rolled. Ugh. At least she's not the heir. I can completely ignore her.
"But...."
NO!!
Daisy gets married. And he's bouncey, trouncey, flouncey, pouncey, fun, fun, fun, fun, FUN!!
"And I'm the only one!!"
Thank god. Speaking of flouncey .....
"So Lin and I still fight ALL the time."
"I didn't ask, Steve."
"Hmph. FINE. I'll leave then, if I'm such a bother."
"I'm just tryin' to learn a new recipe, man. That's all I came down here for."
"Whatever. Got it."
Since she's moving out soon, I let Earwen have the wish she rolled YEARS ago. Meet Clover, named so because she looks a lot like a cat my parents used to have. Our Clover is friendly and clueless, not that it matters at all. She's going to be here for only a few days.
"Aw! You're so cute! I'm glad you're coming to live with me!"
"What the crap? We have a kitten? Since when?"
Since this afternoon. She won't be here long. It's Eldarion's birthday tomorrow, then it's Earwen's birthday and she's taking the kitten with her.
"Oh shit, I'd better throw some parties, then."
You'd better.
Eldarion gets a party at the local pond/swimming hole. Gilly (on the left), Deagol, and Linda (on the right), and cousin Sophia, all made it. Oh, and my old lady simself who's ignoring the proceedings and swimming in the pond.
Eveline: "Wow! We never have parties like this in Champs Les Sims! I think I'm the only one who's even had a birthday!"
Yes, yes, I'm glad I
Oh hell no.
Mungo: "Yikes! Did I look this bad with that hair?"
Eveline: "Ha HAAA! Maybe birthdays aren't so great after all!"
Eldarion got to roll his trait and is now a friendly, tv-lovin', perfectionist who enjoys cooking, and has an upstairs vacancy.
"I like sand. Sand is warm and squishy. Warm and squishy is nice."
And he's only the second dullest knife in this drawer.
"I'm trying to get home but I can't!! There's no way out of here!"
Bree, the large opening in the fence is literally right behind you.
"I, literally, have no idea what you're talking about."
Two "go here"s later ............
"Oh, THAT opening."
"You know, you really should put in a gate or something. I mean, that's not a proper exit. That's just a hole in the fence!!"
I don't know what I expect from someone who rides a motorscooter barefoot.
Some opportunity points (or loss of) to wrap up this chapter,
No Kyle. You're not nearly special enough to warrant an autobiography.
Honestly, if Mun wishes to travel again, I may just eat the 5 points. He's already traveled more than any heir before him. You're done, dude.
No points lost on this opp. as the sim in question must be a cab driver/bus driver/mail carrier/some NPC that doesn't actually exist in town. I accepted the opportunity but there's no way to contact the sim in question. Sorry game, I don't play dat.
I leave you with a madeover, and slightly disgruntled, Sherrie (Perry) Valinor.
"Why did you give me this hair? My life sucks enough as it is."
It amuses me.
"I hate you almost as much as I hate my parents."
Soooo much more. Coming up next, Mungo gets old and you get a new heir!
